För att kunna återvända hem måste Sonic och hans gäng samla alla Chaos Emeralds. I denna process träffar de den tolv år gamla Chris Thorndyke, som blir en viktig allierad i kampen mot Dr. Eggman. Serien följer hur denna osannolika grupp arbetar tillsammans för att uppnå sitt mål. Jun'ichi Kanemaru lånar röst åt Sonic, medan Sanae Kobayashi gestaltar Chris Thorndyke.
